The Hindu wedding ceremony is a religious ceremony conducted according to the Vedic traditions which is rich in symbolic meaning. The wedding day starts early in the morning with the divine sounds of the Nadaswaram (wind instrument) and Thavil (drum). This sacred music marks an auspicious and joyful start to the celebrations. Family, friends, and guests are welcomed with fragrant rose water which is lightly sprinkled upon them. Cool sandalwood paste (Santhanam), red saffron (Kungkumam), sugar candy and flowers are offered at the entrance as they arrive.
