METTI | Toe-Ring Ceremony

G5.png

After the seven steps, the groom leads the bride around the sacred fire three times, accompanied by the Tholan and the Tholi. On the first round the groom places the bride’s right foot onto an Ammi-kal (a granite stone) and places a Metti (silver toe ring) on her second toe. On the second round the groom repeats this on her left foot. The Ammi-kal symbolizes the strong foundation of life and the Metti symbolizes marital commitment, humility, and a strong, stable union.
