This is the most significant and sacred moment of the wedding. Upon the bride’s return, she places a garland on the groom’s neck, accepting him as her chosen partner. With prayers chanted by the priest the groom rises to his feet and lovingly ties the Thaali around the bride’s neck. As this sacred act takes place, guests joyfully shower the couple with flowers, offering their blessings and well wishes. The groom then puts Kumkumam on the bride’s forehead. Following the tying of the Thali, the bride is sat on the left of the groom just as Goddess Parvathy sits to the left of Lord Shiva.
